| The
stone from which this piece is made was given to me by the arahura river
after following a ritual. it is an unique mixture of pounamu, showing
great age where the green has been oxidised to white. Since it was found,
it has hardened considerably. |
The
piece symbolises the union of celtic spirit (the dragon) with maori
spirit (the tanifa), producing a flying, toothed, creature (the whole).
the spiral on its stomach, which it is holding, represents a new life
contained within, so the creature is fertile. |
